August in the UK has been a wash out. It’s time to throw that anorak aside and take a look at my top 3 travel spots to escape the summer blues!
- Florence, Italy – After a short 2 hour flight from London, you could be soaking up the culture of Italy’s central region; Tuscany. Arriving in Florence you are sure to be overcome by its architecture and energy. Stay within the city exploring the delights of the maze of side streets or gradually ascend to Piazzale Michelangelo for panoramic views of the city. Florence is perfectly located to access nearby Pisa, Siena & Volterra by a scenic train journey through the vast countryside. Enjoy a glass of Chianti and forget your wellies.
- Bruges, Belgium – Forget the monotony of work and lose yourself along the canals and cobbled streets of Bruges. With its fairy tale backdrop of medieval buildings, this city steals the hearts of those who visit.
- Edinburgh, Scotland – Ok, so it won’t be any drier and definitely won’t be any warmer but with 10 days of the Fringe Festival remaining it is sure to put a smile on your face. Head there for a long weekend and pick up last minute tickets to a comedy improv show or late night gala featuring your favourite comedians. With streets bustling with people and acts of all genres there will not be a dull moment. Make sure you squeeze in some time to visit Edinburgh Castle and a ghost tour before filling up on hand-made fudge and local whisky.
